Obscure / Patterned Glass

Obscure / Patterned Glass

Reno Go

Obscure / Patterned Glass (also called decorative or privacy glass) is a type of glass that has a textured or patterned surface designed to distort visibility while still allowing natural light to pass through. It is commonly used in areas where privacy is required without blocking daylight.

The patterns are typically created during the manufacturing process by pressing a decorative design onto one side of the molten glass using rollers. This results in a permanent texture that scatters light and reduces clear visibility through the glass.

Obscure or patterned glass is widely used in both residential and commercial applications. Common uses include bathroom windows, shower screens, front doors, sidelights, office partitions, and internal doors. It provides an effective balance between privacy and brightness, making spaces feel open while maintaining discretion.

Patterned glass is available in a variety of designs, textures, and thicknesses to suit different architectural styles and functional needs. Popular patterns include frosted, rain, fluted, and geometric textures. Depending on the application, the glass can also be toughened (tempered) or laminated to increase strength and safety, making it suitable for areas that require compliance with building safety standards.

In the Australian market, obscure or patterned glass is frequently selected for its decorative appearance, practical privacy benefits, and versatility in both modern and traditional designs.
